    • WHO DEVELOPED THE CRYOTHERAPY TECHNOLOGY?

Whole body Cryotherapy treatment was originally developed in Japan in 1978, and the benefits have been studied and refined in Europe since it was developed.

    • HOW DOES CRYOTHERAPY TREATMENT WORK?

The Cryosauna uses gasiform nitrogen to decrease the client’s skin surface temperature from normal body temperature to 30°F in 30 seconds or less and keeps it that way for 2-3 minutes. This phenomena results in a energy boost and skin rejuvenation, that effect lasts from anywhere from 1 1/2 to 3 hours. When the client’s exterior skin surface is cooled to these levels, the immune system is stimulated, and every organ in the body is affected in a positive manner. The skin reacts to the extreme cold and sends messages to the brain that acts as a stimulant to the regulatory functions of the body. It produces the scanning of all areas that may not be working to their optimal potential. The biochemical process that occurs at this time consumes a great amount of energy. It is validate that this process is responsible for fat loss reported by many users.

    • IS NITROGEN DANGEROUS?

No. Nitrogen is a non-toxic gas and it is not dangerous to human beings. The air that we breathe is composed up of 16% Oxygen, 1% Hydrogen, 78% Nitrogen and 5% of other components.

    • IS IT COMFORTABLE? WHAT DO I WEAR FOR THE CRYOTHERAPY TREATMENT?

Before entering the Cryosauna, it is best to dress in protective clothing composed of cotton socks (which are provided) and underwear. Only your hands and face are visible to the operator during the treatment, so modesty is preserved at all times. Also, it is a dry, gaseous cold. Which means the session is tolerable even to those who may consider themselves cold-intolerant.

    • HOW DO I FEEL AFTER I FINISH A CRYOTHERAPY TREATMENT?

During each treatment, the body releases endorphins, which are hormones that make you feel good and energetic. The buoyant effects from each session last minimum 6-8 hours and increase with number of treatment sessions. Many clients have expressed that they have the absolute best night of sleep after a Cryo

      session.

    • HOW MANY CRYOTHERAPY TREATMENTS SHOULD I TAKE TO ACHIEVE BEST RESULTS?

Depending on the condition of treatment, you should initially take 7-10 treatments in close succession (separated by 1-2 days - e.g. 3x/week) for optimal results. After that, you can use fewer treatments spaced further apart to maintain and increase your results (e.g. once every week or two weeks).

    • CAN I GET A COLD BECAUSE OF THIS TREATMENT?

No. The immediate cold impact of the Cryotherapy will raise the internal body temperature for a short period of time. The stimulation of the immune system from the cryotherapy treatment can help decrease the severity and frequency of future colds.

    • I AM CLAUSTROPHOBIC. MAY I USE WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY TREATMENT?

Yes, you may use your whole body. The door is never locked and you may step out at any moment you chose. The chamber is also open to the top and your head is raised above the level of the upper rim of the chamber. Also, you can see our provider at all times and we try to keep you distracted for your 2½ - 3 minute treatment.

    • DO I HAVE TO TAKE A SHOWER BEFORE AND/OR AFTER A CRYOTHERAPY TREATMENT?

No, you don’t have to take a shower. This treatment does not make your skin wet. We have many clients who come over during a lunch.

    • ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS TO WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY TREATMENT?

Some contraindications are Pregnancy, severe Hypertension (BP> 180/100), acute or recent myocardial infarction, unstable angina pectoris, arrhythmia, symptomatic cardiovascular disease, cardiac pacemaker, peripheral arterial occlusive disease, venous thrombosis, acute or recent cerebrovascular accident, uncontrolled

seizures, Raynaud’s Syndrome, fever, tumor disease, symptomatic lung disorders, bleeding disorders, severe anemia, infection, cold allergy, acute kidney and urinary tract diseases.

    • WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY TREATMENT?

Whole Body Cryotherapy treatment is very well tolerated and has minimal risks: Fluctuations in blood pressure during the procedure by up to 10 points systemically (this effect reverses after the end of the treatment, as peripheral circulation returns to normal), allergic reaction to extreme cold (rare), claustrophobia, anxiety, activation of some viral conditions (cold sores) etc.

    • WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE SYSTEMS OF THE BODY DURING THE CRYOTHERAPY TREATMENT?

      Skin:

The outer skin is ‘frozen’ briefly activating increased production of collagen in deeper layers of the skin (similar to lasers treatments of the face, where very hot temperatures are used). The skin regains elasticity and becomes smoother and even-toned, dramatically improving conditions such as cellulite and skin aging. Skin vessels and capillaries undergo severe vasoconstriction (to keep the core temperature from dropping), followed by vasodilation after the treatment. Toxins and

other stored deposits are flushed out of the layers of the skin and blood perfusion is improved dramatically after several treatments. The anti-inflammatory properties of cryotherapy treatment are also used to treat chronic skin conditions such as psoriasis and dermatitis.

      Endocrine:

The extreme cold exposure causes the body to rev up its metabolic rate in order to produce heat. This effect lasts for 5-8 hours after the procedure, causing the body to ‘burn’ 500 – 800 Kcal over the hours following the treatment. After several cryotherapy treatments, the increase in metabolic rate tends to last longer between treatments. Another ‘survival reaction’ to the extreme temperatures is the release of endorphins (hormones) that have analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, and dramatically improve mood disorders. Cryotherapy treatment has been studied for the successful treatment of medication resistant depressive disorders. Patients also experience a noticeable increase in libido, lending to the use of cryotherapy for ED and other sexual disorders.

      Musculoskeletal:

The anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties of cryotherapy can dramatically improve joint

disorders such as rheumatoid- and osteoarthritis. Athletes are using whole body cryotherapy treatment to recover from injuries and drastically improve their performance.

      Immune System:

Cryotherapy treatment improves the function of the immune system and decreases stress levels.
